Nestled amongst swaying coconut trees and located right on the beachfront in Sanur, is the beautiful Batu Jimbar residential estate. Created in the mid 1960's, the collection of luxury residences at Batu Jimbar have become responsible for defining what we know today as Balinese Style.
Architects the calibre of Geoffrey Bawa, Peter Muller, Kerry Hill and Ed Tuttle, were commissioned to create stunning tropical Villas that played host to the who's who of the political, social and entertainment worlds. The latest architectural icon to be added to the Batu Jimbar estate is Svarga, an award winning residence that combines the tradition of Balinese style with modern features and facilities.
The design of Svarga is based on the concept of the never ending house. Seen from above, the plan of the house is an inverted S, resulting in the creation of two courtyards. The ground floor is kept as transparent as possible, with large timber framed sliding doors separating the interior from the exterior.
Walls are kept to a minimum and are used only where more private space is required. In keeping with Balinese tradition, the surrounding natural environment becomes part of the residence, and a sense of tranquility and peace prevails.
The living areas located on the ground floor level include a spacious lounge room with full entertainment systems, a formal dining room with seating for 10, a fully equipped kitchen and casual dining bar, pantry and preparation kitchen, wine cellar, two private seating retreats, two indoor outdoor toilet areas, one queen bedroom with indoor outdoor en suite with walk in shower, and a wooden deck surrounding the pool with full bar-b-que facilities.
There are three king bedrooms upstairs, connected to the ground level by spiral staircases, and each contained in an individual barn that sits atop the inverted S. Two are connected by a grassed rooftop quadrangle, creating another space that engages with the sky and lush tropical landscape.
Each bedroom is beautifully appointed with luxurious beds and linen, walk in wardrobes and quality furnishings. Large glass panels surround the rooms and bath the interior in light.
